What We Wore to Couture Fashion Week

This past Sunday, I attended Couture Fashion week at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.  I saw two  presentations – Alicat by Avril Lemieux and Edwing D’Angelo.  To put it mildly, both presentations were a job well-done. I liked the refined yet edgy elegance of Alicat by Avril Lemieux and the energetic and bold feel of Edwing D’Angelo’s presentation.   I  attended the show with my friend Sasha, and we both agreed we will be attending more shows in the future. Here’s what we wore:

Sasha and I did not plan to wear similar outfits, but somehow we both ended up in shorts and over-the-knee boots:

My look: Top: consigned Robert Rodriguez (Beacon’s Closet), Shorts: Express, clutch: via Ebay, Boots: Colin Stuart via Victoria’s Secret

NYFW: Bloggers Night Out

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending Bloggers Night Out to celebrate New York Fashion week. Held at the Caulfield, the space was jam-packed with stylish bloggers, I had a blast meeting people from the fashion/style/beauty blogging community in person. We had a lovely night of conversation, photography, contests, inspiration and ginger margaritas. I want to say thank you to the lovely ladies who created this event and the sponsors. I was really pleased with the gift bag we received at the end of the night. It included a lot of goodies such as a Birchbox box  and gift cards to T.J. Maxx/ Marshalls and Shopbop. Photos from the event:

Phillips After 5

Yesterday I attended Phillips After 5, a monthly event featuring live music, gallery talks, food and a cash bar at the Phillps Collection Museum in Dupont. My friend E. and I, who both enjoy modern art, had a great time viewing the collection, catching up on life in the D.C. (men talk lol) and enjoying wine and hor d’ourves. Pictures from the event:

I wore a Banana Republic tee, Top Shop Blazer, J Crew Cords and Grey Mia Wedges (not pictured). Here’s to winter brights!

How cute is E.’s green Coach bag? It’s such a classy statement piece.

E., who’s lived in D.C. for a couple of years now says the Phillips Collection is a great museum to visit in the daytime if you work in the area, love art and crave peace and quiet.  She told me she used to enjoy coming on her lunch break when she wanted some quiet time and artistic inspiration. So check it out!

Cheers,

Nika
