NYC Chic: Cocktails with Belle

Before I speak about the event,I have to say a few words about the book.  If you haven’t read A Belle in Brooklyn by Demetria Lucas, you’re missing out. It’s a GREAT book that is well written, relatable, and honest. It’s sorta like reading your awesome older sister’s diary.  Furthermore, it’s chock full with tidbits of wisdom – like the unforgettable-there is a difference between someone liking you and someone wanting you to like them.  The moment I opened the book this past summer, I could not put it down. I stayed up reading about Belle’s adventures in my beloved New York City. At times I laughed and cried. There were also points where I paused and reflected on experiences  in my own personal memory bank.  It’s a great read.

The Event

This was my very first time attending Demetria’s highly sought after Cocktails with Belle.Held at the Ludlow Manor in Lower Manhattan, the event was packed with beautiful  and fashionable men and women. The city chic decor of the  Ludlow Manor coupled with the young and stylish crowd created a  sophisticated atmosphere. Yet it was far from stuffy, which was apparent from the free flow of conversation and laughter around me. Of course there were yummy cocktails, but I was pleasantly surprised by these delicious red velvet cupcakes.

Demetria wore a fabulous pink dress that looked beautiful with her hair and classic jewelry.

Not only is she beautiful, Demetria is warm and down-to-earth. She seamlessly chatted up guests and posed for pictures throughout the night.

I attended the event with my college friend Alicia of Mommy Delicious. We had a blast, which typically happens when the two of us get together.

I also met the lovely Lioness Rising (waves) of http://lionessrising.wordpress.com.

I wore a  Max Studio dress, Colin Stuart boots and a Chunky Necklace

Overall, I had a great time at a fabulous event.

Cheers,
Nika
